A full Draft SMP can be downloaded from here in manageable sections. It is also available to view at council offices throughout the region. There is now a 60-day period during which you are invited to comment on the draft SMP and the proposed coastal defence policies, online, by email or by post The document will also be presented and explained to the public through a series of exhibitions across the region over the period Monday 1st to Thursday 4th and Monday 8th to Thursday 11th February 2010. This document is an Addendum to the Strategic Environmental Assessment Environmental Report (SEA ER) relating to the North Solent Shoreline Management Plan (SMP). The requirement for this document follows review of the SMP and appendices by the national Quality Review Panel (QRP). QRP comments on the SMP2 included the requirement to update sections of the SEA ER. The original SEA ER cannot be amended therefore this Addendum provides the additional information and analysis requested by the QRP. It is important to note that this SEA Addendum has been based on the draft SMP prior to public consultation. The SEA regulations require that SEA ERs are consulted on widely to provide transparency of assessment and maximize SEA effectiveness. The original SEA ER was subject to a three-month public consultation alongside substantive SMP2 documentation. The final SMP2 will be published following consideration of all comments received through public consultation and subsequent revisions.
